PBI Mexico: Worrying wave of violence against human rights defenders in Oaxaca

Mexico D.F., 13 September 2013. In Oaxaca human rights defenders are confronted with severe risks. Community and indigenous rights defenders are particularly vulnerable. They demand respect for their right to free, previous and informed consultation in a context of apparent imposition of megaprojects, such as wind farms and the extractive industry.

PBI/WOLA/LAWG: U.S. and International NGOs Request That President Obama Meet with Mexican Civil Society

Earlier this week, WOLA, the Latin America Working Group (LAWG), and Peace Brigades International (PBI) sent a letter to President Obama requesting that he include a meeting with members of Mexican civil society during his upcoming visit to Mexico in order to consider human rights concerns from a non-governmental perspective.
