Chihuahua, 01 October 2013. PBI Mexico opened its new team in the north of the country today. The team covers the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila.
Mexico D.F. 02 October 2013. As part of the beginning of PBI's activities in the north of Mexico, Alma Rosa García Guevara was invited to visit several European countries between 2 and 18 September 2013 representing three organizations that defend and promote human rights in Coahuila.
Mexico D.F., 27 September 2013. Next Tuesday, 01 October, in Chihuahua City, PBI Mexico will officially launch its new field team in the north of the country. The Northern Team is starting its accompaniment work to human rights defenders in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila.
Mexico D.F., 26 September 2013. Yesterday the German and French Embassies in Mexico awarded the first Franco-German “Gilberto Bosques” Human Rights prize in recognition of the promotion and defense of human rights, peace, solidarity and justice.
The human rights defender Minerva Nora Martínez Lázaro, member of Barca-DH, from the state of Oaxaca, was a victim of theft. On Tuesday, 19 September 2013, Nora Martínez left a meting at 6.30pm and noticed her car had been broken into. The perpetrators took discs, USB memories, an iPad and documents about the cases the organization is working on.
PBI MEXICO 2014
The Mexico Project is looking for new volunteers for the 2014 selection process. Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2013. The Training will take place in April. Please contact the Training Committee to send in your application or with any questions.
Mexico D.F., 13 September 2013. In Oaxaca human rights defenders are confronted with severe risks. Community and indigenous rights defenders are particularly vulnerable. They demand respect for their right to free, previous and informed consultation in a context of apparent imposition of megaprojects, such as wind farms and the extractive industry.
The video "Get involved" presents the project's work through the voices of human rights defenders, members of PBI Mexico, the diplomatic corps and the OHCHR.
The content of the reforms must comply with the rulings by the Supreme Court and the Inter-American Court Human Rights Organizations welcomed the publication of the Project of reforms and holding public hearings.
