Mexico City 19 October 2012.- Launched this morning: The Consultative Council designed to protect human rights defenders (HRDs) and journalists when their lives are threatened as a result of their professional activity.

• In relation to the bilateral human rights dialogue between the European Union (EU) and Mexico, civil organizations urge the EU to tackle issues of major concern regarding the human rights situation in Mexico.
• They also urge that the bilateral political dialogue between the Mexican government and the European Union conclude with transparency and ensure effective mechanisms for dialogue with civil society.

Oaxaca de Juarez, October 3, 2012– October 1st-3rd, representatives of organizations of the National Network of Civil Human Rights Organizations "All Rights for All" (Red Nacional de Organismos Civiles de Derechos Humanos "Todos los derechos para todas y todos", Red TDT) and Peace Brigades International (PBI) carried out a Mission to the state of Oaxaca.

• Ten years after the military abuses against both Me’phaa women, military impunity remains untouched

• Activists from different regions urge the President of Mexico to guarantee cooperation from the National Defence Ministry with the Federal Prosecutor of the General Attorney's Office in order to those responsible of the abuses be presented before a civilian tribunal

The Cerezo Committee celebrated its 11^th anniversary on August 13th, during the last ten years of which they have received PBI accompaniment. Since its foundation, the Committee has received 13 death threats and continued harassment. Stigmatization has closed many doors for them, especially during the early years.

• Due to a lack of trust and transparency, human rights organisations as well as organisations defending freedom of expression and journalists have withdrawn from the Assembly of civil society organisations which is to define the election process of those who will constitute the Consultative Council (Consejo Consultativo) of the Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists in Mexico (Mecanismo de Protección a Personas Defensoras de Derechos Humanos y Periodistas).
