Oaxaca, Oaxaca – In response to the request by the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Advice Indigenous Peoples (Centro de Derechos Humanos y Asesoría a Pueblos Indígenas, CEDHAPI), the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) granted precautionary measures in favor of a Triqui indigenous community living in San Pedro River Valley, Oaxaca.

Mexico City.- Alejandro Cerezo, Cerezo Committee member and coordinator of Urgent Action for Human Rights Defenders (Acción Urgente para Defensores de Derechos Humanos, ACUDDEH) has received the German Peace Prize of Aachen 2012. The award recognizes the work of the Mexican defender for human rights and the trajectory of the Committee.

Oaxaca, Oaxaca.- On April 27, 2010, human rights defender Alberta Beatriz "Bety" Cariño, and Finnish citizen Jyri Jaakkola were killed in an ambush in the Triqui region of Oaxaca. Two years after the event, David Peña, a lawyer for the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (Asociación Nacional de Abogados Democráticos,ANAD), and Karla Michel Salas, both representatives of the victims, have lodged a complaint with the prosecution of Finland in search of justice for the victims and prosecution of those responsible for the deaths.
